Apply for a 2018 MCAA Chapter Grant
MCAA is now accepting applications for the 2018 student chapter grants, which supplement the financial support that student chapters receive from chapter membership fees, fundraisers and financial contributions from their sponsoring local associations. Chapters may apply for either an Emerging Chapter Grant or a Chapter of Excellence Grant. Applications for these grants, which are made possible thanks to funding from the Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF), are due by May 1, 2018.
The Emerging Chapter Grant
New chapters and chapters that are rebuilding can apply for this $3,000 grant in up to three consecutive years. Chapters decide how the funds are to be used. For example, the chapter may choose to fund scholarships, put the money toward chapter operations or special projects, or use the funds to travel to MCAA’s Annual Convention or the GreatFutures Forum.
Chapter of Excellence Grant
Well-established, thriving student chapters are encouraged to apply for this $7,500 grant, which provides $5,000 for student scholarships and $2,500 for other purposes. The chapter may choose to use the funds to travel to MCAA’s Annual Convention or the GreatFutures Forum, or put them toward chapter operations or special projects.
Faculty advisors apply for these competitive grants annually. MCAA’s Career Development Committee judges the applications and makes grant awards using a set of criteria related to the program’s goals (i.e., number of students who obtain internships and full-time employment, membership growth, fundraising achievements and more).
