One thing we love to do here on the MCAA GreatFutures website is pass along great ideas when we get them…especially when we get those ideas from our student chapters! This one from the Rocky Mountain Chapter of MCAA at Colorado State University is indeed a good one and, frankly, just sounds like a lot of fun as well.

Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, MA, received an MCERF Chapter of Excellence Grant which consists of $2,500 to assist the school’s already excellent program to sustain its efforts, and the remaining $5,000 is given in custodianship to the chapter’s faculty advisor to given as student scholarship to the students he or she deems most deserving and/or in need.

The Educator of the Year Award, one of the highest honors awarded by the MCAA student chapter program, went to two chapter faculty advisors this year—Dr. Mostafa Khattab and Prof. Dennis Pettitt of Colorado State University, a first for the program. The award was announced at the Annual Awards Breakfast during MCAA 2017 in San Diego, CA.
With cheers and thundering applause, the University of Missouri-Columbia Student Chapter of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America learned that they won MCAA’s 2016-2017 Student Chapter Competition. The Mizzou team received $10,000, a trophy and the admiration of MCAA members.
MCAA is the “Education Association,” providing its members with lifelong education and leadership development opportunities. Members of MCAA student chapters are encouraged to consider their access to lifelong learning opportunities when choosing an employer. MCERF President Mark Rogers presented four memorial scholarships created to honor the industry leaders they are named after. The students receiving these scholarships were selected by MCAA’s Career Development Committee.
It was another great year for the Colorado State University (CSU) Department of Construction Management at the Annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) student competition. CSU teams took first place in four out of seven categories, and three students earned special recognition for their individual performance.
